As many of you know, I like to read books and boy did I come across a good one.
If you are looking for a great read, please go out and grab: http://www.predictablyirrational.com/ by Dan Ariely. This is a very down to earth book which focuses on behavioral economics.
Sounds boring, I know -- but it is anything but. If you read it, just give a call because I would love to discuss some of the salient points. It is far and away the best book I have read this year!
This guy is a genius and we're sort of similar (he's a Jewish dude married to an Indian girl with 2 kids). The downside is that he is a professor over at Duke, but I will let that slide!
Lastly -- if you are getting access to the blog because someone has forwarded it to you, you can just become a "follower" -- see the right hand side of this webpage. You'll get the updates and not have to rely on getting it forwarded to you.

Big Brother Neil and Baby Sister Siena

Today we just hung around the house this morning and I finally took some pictures of the kids. Neil is the best big brother ever! He shares his toys with Siena, rocks her gently in her seat, and gives her the paci when she cries. When Siena is in her bed sleeping, Neil always goes to check on her.
Siena had a pediatrician appointment earlier this week. She is up to 7 lbs 7 oz which means she gained a pound and a half in 2 weeks. YEAH! She is a great baby and is even letting me sleep at night.

We have a Daughter SIENA!
We are so excited to welcome Baby Siena into our family. She was born on Saturday, January 31 at 4:44 pm. She is lucky to share Aunt B's birthday! Siena weighed 6 lbs 9 oz at birth and measured 20 inches. She slept for most of her first 24 hours in the outside world, but is starting to wake up and is nursing much better.

I had a very easy and fast labor! My water broke at 12:45 pm and she was born at 4:44 pm. I only had 30 min of intense contractions and her head was already out before the doctor even got into the room.
The big brother is doing great, too. He is loving all the attention from Dadi, Mama, Papa, and Daddy and he has been sporting his "I'm the Big Brother" t-shirt since Sat. He has already shown signs that he is going to be my #1 helper and he enjoys holding her, kissing her, and singing her songs.

Snowy Day
Today is the first snowy day in North Carolina in two years! Neil was so excited to see snow. This is a picture that I took at 7:30 am of our street and here's a picture of our house with snow. It's a big deal down here to actually have snow!
Here are a few very short videos of Neil sledding down the hill in our backyard.
Neil's First Theater Experience
On Saturday, January 17th, Neil went to see a local dance group perform their interpretation of "Charley and the Chocolate Factory" with his friend, Hopewell. Neil loved the experience and was dancing in his seat. The show started at 6 pm and he didn't have a good nap so at about 6:50 he turned and looked at me and said "Mommy, very tired." However, at the end of the show he was yelling "More" and all the way to the parking lot he yelled to go back. We had a great time!
